| The Little Engine that CanOur Daisy Database is a sophisticated expert engine that runs the various surveys we ask you to fill out and looks in her information to blend. Presently she is not on-line real time, she's on dream time. It takes about 24 hours for us to think about it, and in blending, we always experiment with the blends she recommends before sending the information out. She cross checks recommended oils to make sure that besides being recommended by clinical aroma therapists who practice 1) Chinese medicine it also looks for similarities with other constitutional systems ( 2) Ayurvedic), checks to see if the oil was used traditionally for the way it is recommended and if there is any clinical evidence from 3) recent medical aromatherapy literature to support those claims. Finally, it checks to see if the dominant component in it's chemical composition would support ___..those claims. She organizes the recommended oils into 4) top, middle, and base notes, and searches for what other oils combines well with them, and is being expanded to consider 5)hair and 6) skin types, similarity to top selling 7) commercial perfumes, and 8) published blends of other natural perfumers. She takes all this information and searches 9) formulas and blends recommended in the published work of a dozen or so authors. We are always trying to involve other perfumers and get them to give up the "proprietary-ness" of their blends. We feel the more we all share the more we will all gain. We are trying to get enough participation from these perfume wizards that we could put up a page where they offer a blend and we promote their website. As we said earlier we only have praise for people earning their living this way And encourage anyone who can afford it to work with them. A number of other well-known Chinese medical clinicians are beginning to integrate aromatherapy into their work to give workshops and publish their recommendations. There recommendations are being looked at. We have two consultants with many years of clinical experience who help us try to make sense of what is being presented. We are in the process of studying the literature of Ayurvedic medicine and the use of plant and oils and have found a very good consultant. We have someone who is beginning to look at the 10) flower remedies and see how practices in that field can be transferred to aromatherapy. Daisy does not yet always respond in real time. You may need to submit your information and we will e-mail back to you with what she came up with within 24 hours [Groot, do you intend to work 7 days a week? We need to train me or someone(s) to help deal with this, as it may involve a lot of back and forth between customer and blender/perfumer.]. The database is something we are always upgrading as we find newer or interesting references. We are working with a number of consultants and as they are able to reach agreements about oils we add these. This is what we do: smell, meditate, and research. Of course we call the database Daisy! aromawheels, etc. |
