Our sandalwood oil comes from Australia and is a light, slightly spicy variety, extracted from Santalum spicatum. Because of over-harvesting, Indian and Indonesian supplies are very pricey, and we offer this Australian alternative.

A high-quality oil can now be produced in commercially viable volumes with minimal environmental impact.

Our wholesaler says, "There are now Sandalwood planatations in India and here in Western Australia. But, the first expected harvest is not until 2011. So, 'Indian' Sandalwood is likely to remain in short supply - and be expensive - until these planatations come on line. But. there will still always be some oil around."
